InterRisk Research Institute & Consulting, Inc. is the core part of MS&AD Insurance Group and provides mainly corporate clients, both domestic and overseas, with risk management services.

Disaster Reduction Goal

InterRisk shares organized knowledge about disaster prevention, disaster reduction and effective response with relevant public and private organizations for more resilient society.

InterRisk provides mainly corporate clients, both domestic and overseas, with various risk management services through consultation, research, seminar and publishing etc.

Making disaster risk reduction a policy priority, institutional strengthening (HFA 1)

-InterRisk provides both national government and local governments with expertise in disaster risk reduction.
-InterRisk offers various training courses and programs for meeting ongoing and future requirements.

Risk assessment and early warning systems (HFA 2)

-InterRisk provides an estimated amount of damages of earthquake /tsunami for a return period (the amount to be incurred once in 200 years, etc.) based on the newly developed model which takes into accounts both earthquake and tsunami.

Education, information and public awareness (HFA 3)

-InterRisk holds seminars on disaster risk reduction for various stakeholders.
-InterRisk researched disaster risk reduction from a variety of angles with national government, local governments and private sectors.

Reducing underlying risk factors (HFA 4)

-InterRisk integrates risk reduction planning into the health sector by supporting hospitals to establish disaster prevention plan as well as business continuity plan.

Preparedness for effective response (HFA 5)

-InterRisk provides local governments with effective support system for victim’s life reconstruction using victim master database. The system has been developed through university-industry joint research. It consists of four functions: 1) building damage assessment system, 2) digitization system for huge amount of assessment sheets, 3) issuing system for victim certificate, 4) management system for victim support operations.

Disaster Risk Reduction Focal Point(s)

InterRisk pursues disaster reduction mainly in Japan and also in some Asian countries as it has offices in China, Singapore and Thailand.
