Ahmose Team (Civilizations' Meeting Point NGO) (Ahmose)

Mission

Ahmose is an initiative from the Meeting Point of Civilizations non-governmental organization, forming teams of volunteers that work in the scope of DRR, Ecology, Assistance and Rescue. It is volunteer-based and non-profit. Relevant fields of activity:

• Creation and management of an electronic, crowd-sourced map to follow up on all hazards and if possible help mitigating risks
• Creation and management of an electronic, crowd-sourced map, offering a platform of coordination where information is gathered to help in the response/relief/recovery efforts in case of major crisis/disaster
• Training volunteers in Emergency Medical Services (Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support)
• Forming volunteer-based Medical Rescue teams
• Forming volunteer-based Urban Search And Rescue teams
• Complete infrastructural reviews for schools, hospitals, etc., to ensure the minimum requirements in terms of safety, plus proposals to step up readiness
• Awareness programs and training for schools, hospitals, etc. in all matters related to safety (First Aid, Fire Prevention, Disaster Preparedness, etc.)

Disaster Reduction Goal

Fatalism in the face of disasters became the norm in Egypt and we are changing this state of affairs by getting actively involved in DRR and Disaster Response. Our goal is to save lives and reduce human losses. We also want to be an example for other members of the Egyptian civil society who too often leave this scope of work aside, encouraging them to get involved.

- Trainings in First Aid (priority Schools and Hospitals)

- Raising awareness among other NGOs about the need to get involved in DRR

Reducing underlying risk factors (HFA 4)

- Creation and management of Egypt Hazard Map (www.egypthazardmap.net) to follow up, based on crowd-sourcing, on all hazards + if possible, help mitigating risks (by calling for donors, after the risk assessment has been issued)

Preparedness for effective response (HFA 5)

- Creation and management of Egypt Crisis Map (www.egyptcrisismap.net) to offer an electronic, crowd-sourced based platform of coordination where information is gathered to help in the response/relief/recovery efforts in case of major crisis/disaster

- Medical and Urban Search And Rescue teams, trained to participate in Disaster Response, in coordination with the relevant authorities

- Training of individual volunteers in Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support
