Karina (Caritas Indonesia) is a humanitarian organization established by the Indonesian Bishop Conference to serve the survivors of natural disasters or man-made disasters. Moreover, Karina implements its humanitarian mission in human rights issues, conflict and social violence gender injustices, and other social injustice. The organization is a legal foundation authorized on May 17th 2006.
Communities in disaster prone areas are resilient to manage the disaster risk and post-disaster recovery in dignified manner (Karina Strategic Planning 2013 - 2017)

Institutional assessment for Karina and diocesan partners based on 6 key areas:
- organizational capacity
- organization strategy
- policy
- project cycle management
- network
- geographical-based planning.
A series of capacity building activities to support the achievement of those key areas to ensure that each diocesan caritas has internalized the DRR concept.
Risk assessments are conducted prior to project implementation to identify the HVC in the community. The result is reviewed regularly based on the needs and context.
KARINKAS has been delivering CMDRR (Community Manage Disaster Risk Reduction)program for 10 villages in Central Java and Yogyakarta Province since 2009
Capacity Building for emergency response for 10 dioceses in Indonesia with knowledge and skills around Sphere standards, assessment, project design, monitoring, logistics and SOP.
KARINAKAS has been developing a Fund Rising Program for Emergency Fund.
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
