Mission
Wenhui Daily is a large-scale general newspaper in China. Initiated by Yan Baoli, the newspaper started publication on January 25, 1938 in Shanghai. The newspaper's primary readership covers general readers, especially intellectuals, mainly from East China. Published since 1938, the paper is a comprehensive one reporting on social and economic news and events. Its major task is to give publicity to the Party's guidelines and policies on cultural education. Wenhui Daily is circulated nationwide and 36 countries and regions in the world. Its daily circulation was 1.32 million as of 1988. Besides the daily newspaper, Wenhui Daily also published Wenhui Readers' Weekly (Wenhui Dushu Zhoubao) and Wenhui Monthly (Wenhui Yuekan), and jointly published Wenhui Movie Times (Wenhui Dianying Shibao) with China Movie Review Academy; launched the Wenhui Publishing House and the Wenhui Science and Technology Consulting Co. Wenhui Daily has representative offices in the cities of Beijing, Tianjin and Guangzhou, reporter stations in the cities of Hangzhou and Nanjing, and reporters resident in countries like the United States, Japan, France, Mexico, the Philippines and Nepal, and the United Nation as well.
Voluntary Commitments
The Sendai Framework Voluntary Commitments (SFVC) online platform allows stakeholders to inform the public about their work on DRR. The SFVC online platform is a useful toolto know who is doing what and where for the implementation of the Sendai Framework, which could foster potential collaboration among stakeholders. All stakeholders (private sector, civil society organizations, academia, media, local governments, etc.) working on DRR can submit their commitments and report on their progress and deliverables.
