Jamaica: Youth to the rescue - students trained in emergency response

Jamaica's Prime Minister Bruce Golding envisages the creation of a network of young people to help the country in emergency situations. The Minister presented the first 100 cadets trained in emergency response by the Preparedness and Emergency Respond Corps (PERC), which is part of the Government's overall Emergency Response Initiative (ERI).

In the programme, disaster preparedness and risk reduction training will also be delivered to 150 communities across the island.
