Gambia: NBR communities urged to be proactive in disaster prevention, preparedness

The deputy executive director of the National Disaster Management Agency (NDMA) has underscored the need for communities to be proactive in disaster prevention and preparedness so as to bring about sustainable development and poverty reduction, reports the Daily Observer.

The consultative meeting, in partnership with UNDP, attracted 450 participants in 15 communities targeting all the districts of the North Bank Region. The community action plan set up by various communities is designed to provide vital information to NDMA, UNDP and other stakeholders on how to mitigate disaster impacts and improve on sanitation and water quality.
