With multiple hazards facing Bihar state, the state disaster management department (DMD) is organizing the Bihar Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction from May 13-14 to chalk out a road map for disaster risk reduction for the next 15 years. "A draft of the road map is already being prepared but we will hold debates and discussions with all stakeholders and include their suggestions in the final copy," said state DMD principal secretary Vyasji at a press meet on Monday.

The conference will include as reference points salient features of the Sendai Framework for Action, outcome of the third UN World Conference on Disaster Risk Reduction held recently in Sendai, Japan. "Almost all the countries face some kind of disaster and are working towards risk recognition, awareness, preparedness and mitigation strategies," said Vyasji, who was also a delegate at the Sendai conference.
