Viet Nam: Residents to be warned of quakes, tsunami through SMS

Tuoitrenews reports that Ho Chi Minh City authorities have issued a plan to “prevent, respond to and overcome consequences of earthquakes and tsunamis in the city". The plan will involve sending early warning messages in case of earthquakes and other disasters. In addition, the Deparment of Construction has been requested to repair high rise buildings and provide instructions on desigining structural systems to mitigate the impact of earthquakes.
