According to Taiwan Today, Aerospace Industrial Development Corp. will provide a reconnaissance plane for weather and environmental monitoring to bolster the government’s disaster prevention and response capabilities. Having provided 55 typhoon observation flights and 41 flights monitoring heavy rains from 2003 to 2011, AIDC is now using its excess capacity to assist in raising the government’s disaster prevention and response capabilities. The flights will collect and integrate information on meteorology, environmental and climatic changes, pollution and water levels, for use by the academic, industrial and public sectors.
