Ayesha Sadaf Khan, reporting for Newsline, cites a report recently published by Oxfam stating that "two to five million people are likely to be affected by floods during this year’s monsoon season, according to the UN and Pakistani authorities."

The author urges the government to follow Oxfam handy guidance on preventive measures, early warning systems and more resilient housing, as well as its key recommendations for the federal government, which include sustained long-term investment in disaster risk reduction measures, reorganised and strengthened disaster management authorities, and the mapping of future flood hazards.
