Sri Lanka: Disaster management act to focus on prevention

Minister A.H.M. Fowzie announces that Sri Lanka's Disaster Management Act will be amended to enhance prevention and mitigation of natural hazards, says the Daily Mirror. The Minister links the country's vulnerability to natural disasters such as floods, cyclones and landslides to the impact of global warming, and calls for a new fund to be set up to meet disaster situation needs.
