UNISDR has launched the official Call for Papers to contribute to the UN Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction 2019 (GAR19). This flagship report is a vehicle to show-case Member States progress towards the implementation of the Sendai Framework, to assess global risk trends, and to present innovative research and knowledge to enhance understanding of disaster risk in all its dimensions, thereby supporting risk reduction efforts.

The production of the United Nations Global Assessment Report on Disaster Risk Reduction 2019 (GAR19) is underway. As part of its development process, UNISDR will launch a call for contributing papers. Further information on the main chapters and themes and guidance for the submission of abstracts will be provided on May 15th 2018.

As per the Principle Recommendations in the Expert Meeting on the Global Risk Assessment Framework in support of the Sendai Framework, the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, and the Paris Agreement, UNISDR invites Expressions of Interest to put forward nominations for consideration to be selected to join the Expert Group.

Interested participants have until 30 March 2018 to submit abstracts for oral or poster presentations at the International Symposium on Communicating Nuclear and Radiological Emergencies to the Public, to be held in Vienna, Austria, from 1 to 5 October 2018.

The Disaster Risk Management Knowledge Centre (DRMKC) is starting to prepare the second Report in the "Science for Disaster Risk Management" flagship series, to be finalised by the end of 2020. In order to ensure a participated, holistic and transparent selection process, the DRMKC has the pleasure to open this public Call for Expression of Interest from Authors, Reviewers and Advisors wishing to contribute.

In 2016, IRDR started the IRDR Young Scientists Programme o promote capacity building of young professionals, and encourage them to undertake innovative and needs based research which makes science-policy and science-practice linkages stronger.The 3rd batch is now open for application. Young researchers are encouraged to apply before Feb 28, 2018.

The Australian Disaster Resilience Conference will explore the importance of individual and community effort at the grassroots level of disaster resilience, through to the enabling conditions of governance, investment and strong public policy that are required to support and foster disaster resilience, and effective recovery for those affected by disaster.

Apply to join the Pressure Cooker event on Risk Communication at the 2018 Understanding Risk Forum in Mexico City. This one day event will host up to 20 young professionals and students to test their innovative, creative, scientific and technological skills to co-develop risk communication solutions to real world challenges facing local decision makers.

Adaptation futures 2018 is now open for abstracts. Disaster Risk Reduction is an aspect that cuts across several of the conference sub-themes, including Planning, Migration, Community-based Adaptation and Food Security.
