Invitation to the 7th EbA knowledge day: overcoming barriers to adaptation

The day’s theme: “Overcoming Barriers to Adaptation: Employing Innovative EbA Approaches to Upscale Nature-based Solutions (NbS)”

Ecosystem-based adaptation (EbA) has demonstrable potential to provide combined solutions for climate change and biodiversity loss. As we are in the second super year for biodiversity and Nature-based Solutions continue to gain importance, this year’s EbA Knowledge Day will pick up on the most recent developments for climate adaptation and will focus on identifying and overcoming key barriers to adaptation planning and implementation through innovation in EbA. The event will reach across sectors and highlight new approaches and opportunities. The day will include remarks by high-level officials, a panel discussion, and in-depth interactive sessions. Other interactive elements on the mobile event app will allow for a maximum of active participation, networking and exchange of knowledge, ideas, and experiences between all policy makers, practitioners, donors and researchers.

The final program will soon be shared with all participants and published on the FEBA webpage and adaptationcommunity.net.

Jointly hosted by the BMU-IKI funded and GIZ implemented Global Project Mainstreaming EbA and IUCN under the Friends of EbA (FEBA) network, EbA Knowledge Days are typically held annually at key UNFCCC and CBD policy fora. Based on the successes from last year, the 7th EbA Knowledge Day will be held in a virtual format.
