GIRD 2020 - Giornata Internazionale per la Riduzione dei Disastri (International Day for Disaster Reduction)
GIRD 2020 - Giornata Internazionale per la Riduzione dei Disastri is the main annual event on Disaster Risk Reduction in Italy. Organized by the Corpo Italiano di San Lazzaro, the high level panel is a meeting point for citizens, institutions and experts about prevention and civil protection.
In the spirit of the United Nations' IDDR, the event GIRD 2020 will promote the dissemination of good practices and the implementation of a prevention culture and protection of fundamental rights, thus contributing to risk reduction.
GIRD 2020 aims to support the need for greater prevention and protection of the territory and its citizens, to inform about UN framework initiatives, and to lay the foundations for an ever closer collaboration at various levels of the problem of disasters. This year's theme is the protection of the italian cultural heritage.
Among others, the event has received the patronages of the following institutions: European Commission in Italy, National Research Council, National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology, Italian National Agency for New Technologies, Energy and Sustainable Economic Development.
The event is open to all.
