COVID-19: How can we better integrate health and disaster management?

As we continue to battle the effects of COVID-19 globally, key Institutions, Scientists, and Policymakers agree on the need to build greater resilience into how we respond to this (and future) Pandemics. This special webinar with two leading authorities on Disaster Management, Prof(s) Rajib Shaw and David Alexander, will discuss how the key, relevant stakeholders should work together to achieve better resilience outcomes in the face of Pandemic threats. Professor Shaw will focus on specific guidelines the UN is working on for how national governments should integrate biological hazards into Disaster Risk Reduction strategies, as well as the experience of dealing with COVID-19 in Japan and East Asia. Prof. Alexander will discuss key aspects of emergency planning and management for pandemics, focusing on experiences from the UK, Italy and other countries.
