Earthquakes are one of the most unavoidable facts of Turkey like many other countries located on seismically active areas. There are several organizations working on different phases of earthquake risk management in our country. Amongst them, Earthquake Department of AFAD is the only governmental organization of which duties and responsibilities are given by laws and presidential orders.

AFAD Department of Earthquake is among one of the biggest data center not only in Europe and Middle East but also in the world with its total 1100 station including broadband, accelerometer, borehole and permanent GNSS stations.

New Turkish accelerometeric database, keeping records of one of the largest strong motion networks in the world, was completely renewed with many new functions and features and transformed into a full-fledged strong motion data analysis system. The most notable features of the new system, which was named Turkish Accelerometric Database and Analysis System (TADAS), involves but not limited to the fully automatic data retrieval and processing of the accelerometric records as well as the manual online processing system with interactive selection/marking of the essential parameters (e.g. time span, filter frequency), zooming and panning of the waveforms over the full vector graphics, the completely customizable user role system which enables a highly detailed authorization scheme, a new database redesigned from scratch with support for GIS functions for selection of the stations, earthquakes and waveforms with virtually unlimited number of template maps from local archive or WMS (Web Map Server) data sources, a 3D visualization of the site locations with satellite imagery overlay.

As of May 2020, 7th, Turkish Accelerometric Database and Analysis System (TADAS) comprise ~83 thousand three-component waveforms from 795 active and 175 passive stations for 8372 earthquakes up to M 7.6  between years 1976-2020.
