Venue

Events to mark the International Day for Disaster Reduction highlight how at-risk communities are reducing their exposure to disasters. Themes for this day are based on the Sendai Seven Campaign – 7 Targets, 7 Years. Following the tradition of recent years, the Bushfire and Natural Hazards CRC is again hosting the Australian event. In 2019 the theme focusses on fourth Target of the Sendai Framework, which is to “Substantially reduce disaster damage to critical infrastructure and disruption of basic services”.

This event is a public forum on the latest research, policy and practices targeted at reducing the number of people affected by natural disasters. Speakers will explore Australia's contribution to reducing impacts upon basic services and critical infrastructure from a range of natural disasters.

The event is free but places are limited so bookings are essential.
