British Red Cross (BRC) are looking for a full time, experienced Programme Manager to be responsible for supporting Nepal Red Cross in their quality and timely delivery of BRC supported development programmes, specifically the DFID-funded Strengthening Urban Resilience and Engagement (SURE) programme. The SURE programme is a 5-year multi-hazard urban risk reduction programme across seven municipalities, over 5 regions of Nepal. This key position, based in Kathmandu, will act as a direct counterpart to the Nepal Red Cross SURE Programme Manager providing technical guidance on Disaster Risk Reduction and project management. 

The role of Nepal Disaster Resilience Programme Manager sits within the Asia Regional team within the International Directorate of the British Red Cross. 

The international work of BRC is managed by an International Directorate of more than hundred and fifty people based in the organisation's UK Office in London and by staff employed overseas supporting BRC funded programmes and partnerships across the Middle East, Asia and African continents.  

Our International Directorate works in partnership with the wider Red Cross Red Crescent family: with some of the 190 National Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the globe, the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). 

Our ideal candidate will have strong programme management skills with experience of managing large, complex programmes. They will have a deep understanding of, and experience in building resilience to disasters in urban settings. Additionally, we are looking for someone with experience in mentoring and building the capacities of staff, as well as strong organisational development experience.
