High School Students Summit on World Tsunami Awareness Day 2018 in Wakayama

The High School Students Summit on World Tsunami Awareness Day 2018 is organized by the Japanese organizers (Wakayama Prefectural Government / Wakayama Prefectural Board of Education / Hirogawa Town / Hirogawa Town Board of Education), in cooperation with the UNISDR Office in Japan as the co-organizer, and the Government of Japan and other partners as the supporting organizations.
This third Summit, “High School Students Summit on World Tsunami Awareness Day 2018 in Wakayama” is expected about 400 high school student participants from 49 countries, including countries which in particular have been faced with tsunami challenges. The Summit aims to encourage the high school students to discuss what they can do to protect people’s lives from disasters such as earthquakes and tsunami, learn each other, and become leaders who actively engage in minimizing the impacts of disasters and play leading roles in the field of disaster risk reduction in their countries.
