9th INtegrated Disaster Management (INDM) Conference & 5th International Disaster Management Award (IDMA)

Within the context of the recent Kermanshah major earthquake in November 2017 in the west of Iran and the moderate earthquake near Tehran and Karaj in December 2017, the 9th Integrated Disaster Management Conference will be held on 25-26 February 2018 in Tehran, with a focus on large-scale events and megacities.

Aims and objectives

This conference will provide a forum for presentations, discussions and workshops on:

• Introduction to the new national strategy for DRR through the application of the SFDRR
• Knowledge exchange among DRR experts, scientists and governmental decisions-makers
• Introduction of an international network like the International Search and Rescue Advisory Group (INSARAG) in relationship to Urban Search and Rescue (USAR) 
• Establish a sustainable network of partner and stakeholder organizations on international, national and regional level in DRR.
• Creating an atmosphere of understanding and cooperation between DRR-related national and international organizations
• Knowledge transfer of past experiences with mitigation and prevention measures, for example on the recent large scale earthquake in west of Iran
• Knowledge development for urban search & rescue resilience in Iran through state-of-the art risk & disaster management
• State-of-the art academic basic & advanced training for commandants and experts in disaster management
• Technology, standardization and management Innovations in the area of DRR
• Development of a national disaster resilience model through a case study of Austria

5th International Disaster Management Award (IDMA)

• Additionally the winners of the 5th International Disaster Management Award (IDMA), which is accredited through the Iranian National Disaster Management Organization, will be announced during the 9th INDM in Tehran.
• Different submissions regarding projects, techniques and equipment are received through the IDMA office and are reviewed. The IDMA has been supported by Disaster Management office of Mashhad Municipality.

This conference is targeted towards high-level decision makers and urban disaster managers.
