International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction in Vietnam

On the occasion of the International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction (IDDR) 2017, the Government of Vietnam has taken steps to address catastrophic risks by introducing new legislation documents, strengthening disaster preparedness and response capacity, as well as establishing a community-based national risk management program.

This program has targeted to support 6,000 communes (approximately 50% of all communes nationwide) by 2020. In order to celebrate IDDR 2017, the Viet Nam Red Cross Society in collaboration with the Central Committee for Natural Disaster Control and Prevention and National Committee for Search and Rescue, will organize a meeting and Disaster Risk Reduction awareness raising in Vinh City of Nghe An province.
