The International Summer School on Management Flood Disasters in Delta Cities will take place in Beijing, China, June 18 - 24, 2017. The summer school is divided into three subject areas related to flood risk management: preparedness and long-term planning, flood disaster response and recovery. These three phases will be brought together through distinct cross-cutting perspectives for adaptive management, monitoring, and learning as well as community engagement.

Speakers and lecturers include renowned experts in these fields from the Delft University of Technology, Tsinghua University, Deltares and XVR. Participants of the summer school will learn the state of the art in flood risk management, disaster response, and recovery. The summer school offers a unique interdisciplinary forum that builds and strengthen collaborations between these research communities from the East and the West.

Course Fees

The early bird registration is 350 euro (if paid before May 1).

The regular registration is 450 euro. 

The registration fee for the summer school covers all course materials, field visits, social activities, and the catering during the summer school. All the participants are kindly asked to pay for the summer school registration fee.

Please note that the registration fee does not include the travel cost to Beijing nor the accommodation in Beijing. The organizers are currently checking the options for providing discounts for accommodation in selected hotels. Information will be provided upon acceptance.   

Registration

Admission is limited to 40 participants in total.

Please send to the Summer School Program Committee (email address: SummerSchoolDeltaCities@tudelft.nl) the following two documents before the application deadline:

  • An up to date Curriculum Vitae
  • A max. two-page document in which you should describe your research or work experience, why you are interested in flood disaster management and indicate the relevance of the theme to your research or work.

Deadline for application: April 1, 2017

Applicants will be informed of acceptance by April 15, 2017. Upon acceptance of your application, you will be asked to confirm your participation and complete your registration. You will also receive the instructions about registration by then.
