Resource Book for Training of Teachers in Earthquake Affected Areas
This book, which reflects the contents of a UNESCO training workshop given in 2006 to teachers in Ambbottabad, Pakistan, explains the origin of earthquakes and their effects on people and human behaviour. It also describes survival techniques during an earthquake, especially in relation to the building construction you are in (concrete, mud...). It provides, in Urdu, with a summary in English, some Koranic verses related to natural disasters and the application of these teachings with regard to earthquakes.
It also treats the following topics:
- Religious and social values related to disasters
- Psychosocial well-being
- Possible strategies for responding to particular problems in the classroom and role of the teacher/school in achieving emotional adjustments among school children and the community.
It summarizes the convention on the rights of the child, especially linked to education and provides advice to establish a conducive learning environment.
