What the Philippines can learn from Japan about preparedness

According to the Emergency Management magazine, the Philippines could benefit from adopting certain disaster preparedness practices of the the Shizuoka prefecture of Japan. Key components of disaster preparedness in Shiyuoka include disaster risk reduction education, early warning systems and an information-gathering and idssemination system to identify blocked routes and devastated areas in real time as well as a satellite-based communication line in case the other system would be out due to strong winds or landslides. But not only the government is preparing for the great earthquake that had been predicted by scientists: there is a high level of community based preparedness as well.
