"It was more than a natural disaster, the officials are responsible too," said a villager of Louzishui in Beijing's southwestern Fangshan district, the area which was hit by a storm and flashflood last weekend, reports CNN.

According to the report, authorities of the district have admitted faults in the local drainage system and stated that they will address local residents' concerns. In addition, they emphasized the importance of prioritizing efforts in a district where 800,000 people were affected by the storm, economic losses amount to least $1 billion, and the death toll is expected to rise significantly.
