Pakistan: $5 million World Bank grant for disaster management

"Through this Balochistan Multi Donor Trust Fund Grant, the institutional capacity of Provincial Disaster Management Authority Balochistan will be strengthened, and the awareness and resilience of the communities of Balochistan to hazards and disasters would be enhanced," stated Rachid Benmessaoud, World Bank Country Director for Pakistan following the announcement of the $5 million grant for the Balochistan Disaster Management Project. The project will include the development of a community based disaster risk reduction program and will enhance capacities in post-disaster recovery, reconstruction and expertise in Disaster Risk Management institutional building in the region which has recently suffered from drought, cyclone and flood related disasters.
