SEEDS annual report 2005-06
The report summarize SEEDS' activities in 2005-06, a year that has seen one of the worst natural catastrophes in history, with the indian ocean tsunami of December 2004, and has also witnessed significant changes at national government level as well as at international level, with the Hyogo Framework of Action (HFA) released during the World Conference on Disaster Reduction held in January, 2005.
Aligning itself to the HFA, the Society has identified three broad areas of activity - promoting school safety, spreading awareness and education on safe buildings, raising sensitivity and understanding among common citizens and local leaders on issues related to risk. The Society, along with its partners, has developed the GOLFRE (Global Open Learning Forum for Risk Education) pedagogy which adopts a case study based system of open learning to further its objectives under the three broad areas identified above voice against any actions by institutions public or private that exacerbate risks.
