Southern Africa to build climate change study center

South Africa, Angola, Botswana, Zambia and Namibia has launched the Southern African Science Service Center for Climate Change and Adaptive Land Management in the Namibian capital Windhoek. The center will receive €50 million support from Germany and it will streamline regional scientific research on climate change trends on managing natural resources to deal with them.

"This initiative will bring knowledge, data, information and services generated by our own scientists with support of their colleagues from Germany," said John Phiri, science minister of Zambia. The aim is to find the areas where more research is needed to enable African countries to adapt to climate change and to mitigate its impacts.
