Anchor climate change policies on protecting poor

It is reported that climate change cannot be stopped but its impacts instead can be reduced, writes Collins Aseka for Business Daily. The efforts that can be grouped include: disaster risk reduction strategies, climate change adaptation and adaptive social protection.

Firstly, disaster risk reduction allows the development and application of all policies, strategies and practices to minimise impacts of hazards. Secondly, climate change adaptation strategies can help people to live with impacts of climate change. Finally, social protection is stated to be a key response to risk and vulnerability, including those related to climate change.
