Climate change: South Africa has much to lose

Climate change could mean unthinkable loss for South Africa, which hosts talks on global warming that will bring government negotiators, scientists and lobbyists from around the world to the coastal city of Durban next week, writes Donna Bryson for AP.

"Climate change is going to happen," said Duncan Mitchell, from Johannesburg's University of the Witwatersrand, adding it's already too late to influence temperatures and water levels over the next four decades. "What needs to be researched is coping with unmitigated climate change."
