Second national symposium on disaster risk reduction & climate change adaptation

The Second National Symposium on disaster risk reduction (DRR) and climate change adaptation (CCA), scheduled on 13th and 14th October 2010 is expected to be another milestone in disaster management in Sri Lanka. More than 45 research presentations and nearly 10 keynote addresses by eminent professionals are on the agenda. The symposium will also be supported with a side event on 'DRR and CCA Practitioners Forum' where DRR and CCA, ground initiatives of key partner organizations including governments, international and national non-governmental organizations, UN Agencies and others will be presented in poster format.

As the International Day for Disaster Reduction is on the 13th of October, a special event is organized parallel to the symposium on 'Disaster Resilient Cities'. The municipal commissioners and the commissioners of local government will participate in this programme.
