A summary report of the second session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction produced by the International Institute for Sustainable Development (IISD) is available in PDF format and provides an excellent overview of all discussions that took place during the Global Platform, including the Opening and Closing debates, High Level Panels, round tables and Informal Plenary sessions.

The Second Session of the Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction opened in Geneva today at an impressive ceremony marked by a keynote video message from UN Secretary General, Ban-ki Moon.

Register early: Due to the record number of participants at the 2009 Global Platform, we strongly encourage delegates to register early. Early registration is open from 1400 to 1700 on Sunday 14 June, and from 0830 to 1800 on Monday 15 June.

Influenza A(H1N1) Information: The World Health Organization is not recommending travel restrictions related to the outbreak of the influenza A(H1N1) virus.

Register early:Due to the record number of participants at the 2009 Global Platform, we strongly encourage delegates to register early. Early registration is open from 1400 to 1700 on Sunday 14 June, and from 0830 to 1800 on Monday 15 June.

The deadline for registering for written Official Statements has been extended. Requests for submitting written statements will be accepted until this Friday, 12 June 2009. Oral statement requests may still be received, but delivery is contingent upon available slots in the schedule. > More information on how to registerUNDRR10 June 2009
Official Statements of three minutes maximum can be delivered on the first three days of the conference mornings and afternoons. All delegations are also requested to submit a written statement. Only one statement per delegation will be delivered. The deadline for online registration is Monday, 8 June 2009.
