Monthly Discussion: What Happens to Disaster Statistics?

Organizer(s) Pujiono Centre for Disaster and Climate Risk Reduction Studies, the
Venue
The Pujiono Centre Dusun Kasranglo RT 003 RW 032, Donoharjo, Ngaglik, Sleman, Yogykarta
Date

The Coordinating Minister of Human Development and Culture, Republic of Indonesia, stated in Geneva Indonesia's Commitment to realize the targets in the Sendai Framework (Geneva, Friday, 25 Jan 2019). In this regard, disaster management statistics and quantitative approaches of national governments to monitor disaster damage and losses that are consistent and coherent are a must.

The problem is, to date, there has been no substantive discussion about disaster management statistics in Indonesia.

Therefore, it is important to understand the importance of the applicability of the technical guidance for monitoring and reporting on progress in achieving the global targets of the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction as well as the scope of the basic range of disaster-related statistics in the Indonesian context.

With that in mind, the Pujiono Centre takes up disaster management statistics as a topic for its monthly discussion in April 2019. This discussion will involve authorities, experts, and academic scholars.
