Organizer(s) Asian Disaster Preparedness Center

Cities depend on complex and interconnected systems of infrastructure, services, communications and social interactions, making them more vulnerable to the impacts of hazards and climate change. It is therefore critical that people, businesses, institutions, and systems in urban areas have greater capacity to prepare, respond, adapt and thrive despite shocks and stresses.

This course will introduce the key concepts and terminologies related to urban risk management; provide tools to mainstream disaster and climate risk into urban planning and provide participants with a better understanding of urban resilience on a theoretical and practical level.
