The EGU General Assembly 2019 will bring together geoscientists from all over the world to one meeting covering all disciplines of the Earth, planetary, and space sciences. The deadline for abstract submission is 10 January 2019, 13:00 CET or, for those applying for EGU Roland Schlich travel support, 1 December 2018, 13:00 CET. All 2019 EGU members will be able to submit abstracts to the 2019 meeting. With a few exceptions, only one abstract as a first author will be permitted. Please find more information on EGU's call-for-abstracts announcement.

More time for presentations & networking in 2019

To provide a better experience for all attendees at its General Assembly, the EGU is making changes to the meeting schedule. The new schedule features posters, oral presentations and PICOs in parallel, uses time blocks of 105 minutes, and includes a dedicated networking slot. This will allow us to fit more oral presentations in the meeting, give more viewing time for posters and PICOs, and provide a more comfortable meeting experience for all. A dedicated networking slot will give attendees additional time to discuss and interact with colleagues, to view posters and to visit the exhibition. More information and a detailed time schedule are in the EGU news item.

Note on hotel booking

Please note that the Vienna City Marathon (40,000 participants) will take place in Vienna on Sunday, 7 April, resulting in many hotels being fully booked the night before. Therefore, EGU strongly recommends booking accommodation as soon as possible.

Mondial Congress & Events is the only official housing agency for the EGU General Assembly 2019. They are responsible for organizing hotel accommodation and tours/excursions. They have secured a sufficient number of 5-star, 4-star, and 3-star hotels. Please use the Mondial hotel reservation home page for booking and for detailed information on hotel rates, accessibility by public transport/distance to the venue, and all tours/excursions.

Applications open for the EGU General Assembly mentoring programme

For the third year in a row, the EGU is offering a mentoring programme for novice conference attendees, students, and early career scientists at its annual General Assembly. The programme aims to facilitate new connections that may lead to long-term professional relationships within the Earth, planetary and space science communities. EGU especially encourages potential mentors to sign up and share their expertise with first-timers at the General Assembly.
