Date

All around the world on 13 October each year the International Day for Disaster Reduction highlights how at risk communities are reducing their exposure to disasters.

Following the tradition of recent years, the CRC will host an Australian event - this year it will be in Adelaide on Friday 12 October, given that the 13th falls on a Saturday this year.

Themes for this day change each year and are based on the Sendai Seven Campaign – 7 Targets, 7 Years.

This year the theme is to “Reduce direct disaster economic loss in relation to global gross domestic product.”

The Adelaide event will feature a range of speakers, practitioners and researchers on how they are making Australian communities more disaster ready and prepared.

This event is free and open to the public, more details to come.
