For 2018, CRHNet is very pleased to be able to offer its delegates a unique opportunity. In partnership and collaboration with the Emergency Preparedness and Business Continuity Conference (EPBCC), we have been able to enhance both social and learning opportunities for the delegates of both conferences.

Session topics include integrated research and practice, urban risk management, indigenous disaster risk reduction, and dealing with uncertainty.

The Conference schedule is as follows:

  • On Tuesday evening, October 30th, the social event will be open to both CRHNet and EPBCC delegates. It will be a wonderful occasion for practitioners and researchers to network and exchange ideas. Posters will be displayed, as will disaster-related paintings and glass work.
  • On Wednesday, October 31st, CRHNet delegates will be able to attend breakout talks throughout the day that are offered by EPBCC as well as the talks and panel presentations offered by CRHNet speakers.  Similarly EPBCC delegates will have the exciting opportunity to attend both sets of breakout presentations. This is a terrific chance for researchers, academics and practitioners to gain insights into what are the current problems and issues that are being addressed at various locations.
  • On Wednesday evening, October 31st, the CRHNet Young Professionals Committee will be holding a “Young Professionals Mentorship & Networking Social.” This is an opportunity for seasoned and young professionals to informally exchange experiences. The Speed Networking Social is an opportunity to connect with emergency management (EM) professionals, interact with fellow attendees and ask those burning questions you may have. The networking format will include small groups of attendees matched with an EM professional, after a brief introduction by the expert, each attendee has 1 minute to introduce themselves, and to spell out specifics they would like discussed or question they may have. The expert replies briefly, in 1-2 minutes before the group moves to the next table. Sharing experiences in a group setting provides an excellent opportunity for knowledge and information exchange. EPBCC delegates are invited and a no-host bar will be available along with some light refreshments.
  • On Thursday, November 1st, CRHNet is pleased to offer its delegates an opportunity to join EPBCC delegates for a joint plenary session and then to participate in a networking lunch.
