Disaster Risk Reduction & Early Warning and Response Systems in the Pacific and Timor Leste: How to make a lasting difference on the ground
World Vision Australia and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology are organising a practitioner's workshop on Early Warning and Response Systems, which will inform our current work. The workshop will be held at World Vision's office in Burwood East on Wednesday 16 May 2018.
The objectives of the workshop is to examine lessons learned, strategies and practices that enhance DRR/CCA and produce effective EWRSs in the Pacific and Timor-Leste, that underpin genuine benefits for people in the region.
Presentations and discussions will include case studies of current and recent activities and projects from various agencies such as BoM, CbM, CSIRO, IWDA, Oxfam, SPREP, WMO, WV SI, WVV on inclusion of the most vulnerable; sustainability; achieving and measuring success; existing Early Warning and Response Systems (EWRS) for meteorological and climate-related hazards; and challenges posed by climate change.
