11th Aceh International Workshop and Expo on Sustainable Tsunami Disaster Recovery (AIWEST-DR) 2018

MAIN HOST(S): Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC)

OTHER HOST(S): International Research Institute of Disaster Science, Tohoku University (IRIDeS)

Type: Meeting or Conference Date: 10 - 12 Oct 2018 Location: Indonesia (Banda Aceh) Venue: Hermes Palace Hotel

Since entering the second decade after the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the world has been progressing towards a focus on sustainable disaster risk reduction. AIWEST-DR was first launched in 2005 as a contribution by Syiah Kuala University to ensure that the key messages and lessons learned from the 2004 tsunami were shared across the region and with other tsunami-prone countries. For the first nine events, AIWEST-DR was named the Annual International Workshop and Expo on Sumatra Tsunami Disaster Recovery during the first ninth consecutive events.

Since 2016, the name of this event has been refined into a new name with the same acronym: Aceh International Workshop and Expo on Sustainable Tsunami Disaster Recovery. Bearing in mind the Sendai Frameworksfor Disaster Risk Reduction (SFDRR), released in Sendai, Japan in 2005, researchers, academia, disaster practitioners and managers are kindly invited to submit their extended abstracts for the 11th AIWEST-DR 2018.
