Workshop Brief

The catastrophic effects of disasters, hazards and emergencies means that successful  risk reduction programs require huge resource outlays much of which inevitably come from donor sources including local and national government agencies. However, many donors and governments express concerns with the manner of emergency resource management and reporting.

Using case studies from global perspective, participants to this international workshop will learn how DRR teams have creatively used modern communication platforms to design innovative resource mobilization strategies, creatively planned and managed the resources and produced actionable reports to guide faster decision making and maintain excellent donor relationships.

Objectives

Participants to this international workshop will gain the following benefits;

  • Get a firm Background in Disaster Risk Reduction ( DRR) Programming
  • Promote Community Ownership in DRR Programming-Ownership of DRR by local national and international players for effective delivery (Synergy and Partnership Building)
  • Clearly Identify The Differences of DRR from other Humanitarian Programs & apply this to DRR  Project Planning & Management
  • Design Relevant and  Sustainable DRR Programs
  • Help expand DRR Resource Streams for Organizations/Institutions/Programs
  • Enable the design of  Strong and Actionable Reports on DRR Programs
  • Improve Relations between organizations implementing DRR Programs and their Donors
  • Promoting Transparency and Financial Accountability in DRR Programming

Delivery & Methodology 

Dynamic, creative, participant centered, practical, interactive, interesting adult learning methodologies and diverse media are applied to lift the participants to high levels of proficiency. After-training, follow-up and remedial coaching will be offered to interested participants on request for free.
