The Regional Workshop on Lessons Learnt from Community Exercise of Indian Ocean Tsunami Wave Exercise (IOWave16) and additional workgroup meetings will take place in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia from December 5 - 8, 2016. The Regional Workshop is organized by UNESCO/IOTIC (Indian Ocean Tsunami Information Center), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB) and supported by United Nations Economic and Social Commissions for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

47 participants from 11 countries in the Indian Ocean Region (Australia, Comoros, India, Indonesia, Iran, Kenya, Mauritius, Oman, Pakistan, Seychelles and Timor Leste) and 4 local governments in Indonesia (Padang, Pandeglang, Pangandaran and Pacitan) will gather in Bandung to deliver their stories and experiences from the Indian Ocean Wave Tsunami Exercise, mock tsunami drills carried out to test and improve the Indian Ocean Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System.
