About AIWEST-DR 2016

After entering the second decade from the 2004 Indian Ocean Tsunami, the world has been progressing to focus on sustainable disaster risk reduction concept. AIWEST-DR was first launched in 2006 as part of Syiah Kuala University contribution to ensure the messages from the 2004 tsunami pass across the regions and become lessons learned for other tsunami-prone countries. It was first named as Annual International Workshop and Expo on Sumatra Tsunami Disaster Recovery during the first ninth consecutive events (every year since 2006 until 2014). This year, Tsunami and Disaster Mitigation Research Center (TDMRC) of Syiah Kuala University refines the name of this event into a new name with the same abbreviation: Aceh International Workshop and Expo on Sustainable Tsunami Disaster Recovery. We want to ensure the Sendai Frameworks for Disaster Risk Reduction, released in Sendai-Japan in 2015, be resonance in the mind of disaster researchers, practitioners, and policy makers. In 2016, at the same time, TDMRC will celebrate its first decade of anniversary since its establishment in 2006. This will be the best opportunity for those who have been inspired and motivated by the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami to gather in this forum and to share what they have been achieving to create a more disaster-resilience world. Therefore, we invite researchers, academia, disaster practitioners and managers to submit their abstracts to the 10th AIWEST-DR.

Call for Abstracts - Extended

Prospective presenters in AIWEST-DR are invited to submit their abstracts that consist not less than 1000 words with title and affiliation and five keywords following the abstract. The abstract should explain briefly: background of the paper, objectives, methods, and important findings. The abstract should be written in a good english scientific writing style. Submission of the abstract should be sent by email to aiwest-dr@tdmrc.org no later than May 1st, 2016. Submissions imply the willingness of at least one author to register, attend the conference, and present the paper.
