About:

Serbia is one of the official partner countries (PC) of the EU Chemical Biological Radiological and Nuclear Centres of Excellence, an initiative of the European Union that aims at building a culture of safety and security in the field of the CBRN risk mitigation in several countries outside the EU.

In the framework of this initiative, Serbia, official CoE PC since 2010 and member of the CoE Regional Secretariat based in Tbilisi (Georgia), has developed a CBRN Action Plan which includes all priorities identified by the Serbian CBRN Action Plan which includes all priorities identified by the Serbian CBRN National Team (NT) to fill their specific gaps in this field. One of the specific areas identified by the Serbian NT is the protection of CBRN facilities against natural disasters with the aim to protect the environment and to be prepared for climate changes.

Aim and objective:

The workshop aims at facilitating EU CBRN Experts and the Serbian CBRN National Team to share best practices, views and methodologies on actions identified within their respective CBRN Action Plans with a focus on the protection of CBRN facilities against natural disasters.

The main objective of the workshop is to allow Serbia to compare the actions identified in this specific field with the ones defined by the EU Member States within the definition of the EU CBRN Action Plan.

Content of the workshop:

The workshop will be organized into three main sessions:

  • Presentation of two scenarios suggested by the Serbian NT concerning CBRN facilities and environment protection;
  • Implementation of an exercise to share best practices on actions developed by the two main actors (EU and Serbia) to deal with the suggested scenarios;
  • Wrap-up session to draft conclusions and suggestions on possible improvements

Participants:

  • EU candidate countries;
  • EU potential candidate countries;
  • "Horizon 2020 - the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (2014-2020)" associated countries;
