The Ministry of Environment Protection of Georgia in collaboration with members of the Partnership for Environment and Disaster Risk Reduction (PEDRR), namely, the Council of Europe, United Nations Development Programme, United Nations Environment Programme, International Union for the Conservation of Nature (Caucasus Cooperation Center), is organizing a regional workshop on Ecosystem-based disaster risk reduction for resilient and sustainable development from 29 May to 1 June 2012 in Tbilisi, Georgia.

The main goals of the workshop are:

• Increase awareness among participants about the multiple benefits of ecosystem services for disaster risk reduction and sustainable development, and the methods for sustaining and enhancing these services

• Develop knowledge and skills on how to integrate ecosystem management and disaster risk reduction into climate-resilient development planning processes;

• Promote and facilitate regional and cross-sectoral collaboration between environmental management, disaster risk reduction, climate change and development actors.
