Venue

Through the support of ECHO's DIPECHO Action Plans in particular, Mercy Corps and Practical Action have piloted early warning systems (EWS) in Nepal since 2002, while similar work has been supported elsewhere through DIPECHO projects in South, South East Asia and beyond.
The workshop will be preceded by a media workshop on 22nd May and will tie-in with a now annual "Early Warning Users Group" workshop. This year it will be held in Chitwan, where up to 200 representatives from flood affected communities operating EWS will gather to share their respective experiences and learning. In some cases this will be to share ten years of EWS experience, the first system being established in Chitwan, Nepal in 2002
