The seminar  "Forefront and challenging geospatial technologies for environment and disaster management in Southeast Asia" is organized by the Regional Network office for Urban Safety (RNUS).

RNUS is a collaborative center jointly operated by the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT), the International Center for Urban Safety Engineering (ICUS), the Institute of Industrial Science and the University of Tokyo. Since its establishment in 2002, RNUS has been organizing many joint research works, projects and seminars contributing to the realization of a safer urban environment.

The current technology of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and environmental management has developed rapidly and progressively. It has caused many changes in both the working methods of using and the convenience and security of data. Therefore it is essential that executives and professionals are aware of new information and knowledge for accurate and efficient planning.

This seminar is intended to present modern GIS technology that can be used for environmental and disaster management in Southeast Asia. It would be very meaningful and important that GIS researchers and engineers get together and share the issues, knowledge and experiences to advise each other regarding the progress of various projects concerning GIS technology. Both local and foreign experts will present at this seminar.
