This statement is the outcome of the Conference on the Gender Dimensions of Weather and Climate Services held in Geneva, Switzerland, 5-7 November 2014, in which the participants of the conference commit themselves to implement the following recommendations within their institutions and networks: (i) to improve the understanding of the gender-specific impacts of weather and climate and of the gender dimensions of weather and climate services on disaster risk reduction, water resources management, public health, and agriculture and food security through increased research, outreach and training; (ii) to pursue strategies and structures to increase the involvement of women as well as men in the development and communication of gender-sensitive weather and climate services; (iii) to produce and communicate gender-sensitive weather and climate services; (iv) to strengthen the capacity of women as well as men in climate- sensitive sectors; (v) to increase investment in gender-based weather and climate services; (vi) to expand women’s participation in STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics); and (vii) to increase collaboration and integration of programmes and initiatives.
