Pyroclastic flows - the hazard


Pyroclastic flows are one of the most deadly of volcanic hazards, especially because they can run fast, are extremely hot, appear as green ash during the day. There are two main ways they form: by pulverised rock rising into the sky and falling after the explosion of a volcano and by sticky lava piling up.
