Charter of Rome on the resilience of art cities to natural catastrophes

Adopted at a conference that commemorated the 50th anniversary of the Florence flood, this charter establishes the need for cultural heritage and Art Cities to have a special status when governments develop plans for reducing disaster impacts.

Comprising four sections, the charter establishes a basic consensus on cultural heritage resilience, explains the actions needed to ensure protection, discusses the role of academies, and compares disasters caused by natural and man-made hazards.
