This climate change strategy outlines Kosovo's approach to climate change mitigation and adaptation in accordance with sustainable development plans.
The first section focuses on the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions, with the following two objectives: 1) developing Kosovo's capacity to meet future obligations of the UNFCCC and the EU, and 2) reducing greenhouse gas emissions through energy efficiency, renewable energy and the sustainable use of natural resources.
The second section focuses on adaptation, with the following three objectives: 1) improving and developing new disaster risk reduction mechanisms, especially for sectors particularly vulnerable to climate change, 2) strengthening the capacity of vulnerable communities, such as farmers, women and marginalised groups, to address the risks and impacts of climate change, and 3) increase the capacity of stakeholders to integrate climate change adaption into local and national development processes and empower them to address climate change issues.
